Commentator

Kartik is an Indian cricket commentator and former cricketer who occasionally represented the national team from 2000 to 2007. However, he never made it into international games during his peak years. He was also a left-handed batsman and while he achieved some success at a first-class level with 21 half-centuries, he failed to make an impact at the international level. His last appearance for India was in 2007 and since 2015, he has been a part of the IPL commentary team, regularly commenting on India's home matches.

Kartik made his debut in the 1996-97 season and after some productive domestic seasons, he made his Test debut as Kumble's spin partner in early 2000. However, he ran into disciplinary issues and was expelled from the National Cricket Academy later that year, only to be recalled in 2001. He remained on the fringes of selection for the next four years. He made his ODI debut in 2002 but was dropped due to lackluster performances and missed the 2003 Cricket World Cup. In late 2007, Kartik returned to the ODI team and took figures of 6/27 in a win against Australia but soon lost form again and was dropped once more. He has not represented India since then. Apart from domestic cricket, Kartik has also played for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League and has been popular as an overseas player in English county cricket, representing Lancashire, Middlesex, Somerset, and Surrey. He joined the IPL commentary team in 2015 and regularly commentates on India's home matches.
